Help Me Choose!

So I'm having a tough time deciding which pair of shoes I should purchase to hopefully go with this dress (if they get it back in stock).

Or perhaps this one (I just love the sequins)....hmmm, decisions decisions.

I want to go with a pair of nude/off white/cream shoes.  I don't own a pair of dress shoes in any of those colours, so I think I'm long over due!

Here are the ones I have my eye on and I'd love to know.....

do you have a favourite?

Peonies

Many of you probably already saw this photo yesterday when I posted it on twitter, but I love it so much that I just had to share again!

I love peonies, love, love, love them!  Yesterday I was able to cut a few bunches from the garden and am really enjoying decorating the house with the beautiful flowers.

This beautiful group is sitting on our kitchen table.

How about you....are you a fan of peonies?

Footwear!

I really have a thing for shoes lately.  I'm loving perusing online shops and of course, pinterest for beautiful footwear.  Anything from flats to wedges to heels.

During my online window shopping, I discovered a few items and techniques that I'd never known/heard about before, and thought that I would share them with you incase you hadn't heard of them or seen them before either.

Heel slip guards...news to me!

(this isn't the same brand I bought, but it's the same idea. found here)

I had heard of using a shoe liner to help make a shoe that is a tad too big fit perfectly, but I hadn't ever heard of heel slip guards!  Well, the timing couldn't have been anymore perfect! I  recently purchased a pair of lovely black canvas wedges, but my right heel kept slipping out.  So I headed out to search for these slip guards (found some at Walmart for under $4 for two sets) and voila, they did the trick!

I have a pair of fabulous patent leather peep toe pumps that I absolutely love!  The only problem is that I can only wear them for a few hours before my feet are aching to the point that I have to take them off.  So I turned to google to see if there was a way to stretch them at home, and low and behold, there is!  Have you ever heard of putting them in the freezer?  Yes, freezer!  You fill a small ziplock bag 1/4 full of water, slide it into the toe of the shoe and then put the shoe into the freezer.  Leave it there until it's frozen.

You can watch this video to see exactly how to do it:

So I'm pretty excited to be able to walk in my new wedges, without worrying about them slipping off...and to be able to comfortable wear my pumps thanks to the video tutorial, so clever!

Summer Wear!

We've now had a few hot days here so I'm beginning to scour the stores and my closet for summer clothes.  I'm not much of a shorts wearer, never have been really.  But I do love skirts and I'm thinking that I should start wearing dresses more during the summer months.

So, of course I've been doing a little research and just had to share some of my finds so far!

Fear

                                                                                                        Source: pinterest

Hmmm fear, we all have it.  It has many different meanings right?  I mean, you can have fear, a good fear, protective fear, but then you can have the bad fear...fear that holds you back, fear that paralyzizes you....the "what if" kind of fear.

“You block your dream when you allow your fear to grow bigger than your faith.” Mary Manin Morrissey

Can I be honest with you?  Okay....did you know that I almost didn't do the interview on Oh My! Handmade Goodness.  Yes, this is true.  Why?  I was fearful that I wouldn't do a good enough job.  I was fearful of being on a huge blog such as OMHG.

It's true.

Another fear I had was to discontinue making certain items in my shop.  So far, they have been the most popular and hottest selling items, so why would I stop making them?  Well, I wanted to spend more time with my family, I wanted to feel less stressed, I wanted to focus on the clutch and notecards.  So I stood firm, I pushed my fear aside and did it.

You know what, in both of these cases I faced fear and in both of these cases I decided that fear was not an option.

Well, I can't even begin to tell you how great I feel.  It was beyond exciting to see my work on OMHG and to read all of the amazing comments.  I'm so proud and thankful.  And the result of decreasing my shop item list....I feel as though a huge weight has been lifted off of my shoulders.

I feel good, I feel proud, I feel happy.....and it shows.

I have to remember that what works for others, won't necessarily work for me.  I have to remember that sometimes I will not succeed, I will fail, but from that........I will learn.

So, here's to saying goodbye to fear more often than not, and hello to taking chances.  You never know what will happen if you don't....

Large Clutch!

Hi all!

I'm in the process of adding some new clutches to the shop, exciting, yes!  I have quite a few more to put together and well, after they are done, I'll get working on another batch!

I'm contemplating offering a larger variation of the Skinny Clutch incase people were looking for something a tad bigger.  So I decided to make one to see if it was a hit or miss.  It's actually the same size as the Sequin and Ruffle Strap Clutch, I simply removed the strap:

The Fog Is Lifting....

Source: prettypinkruby.tumblr.com via Kathy on Pinterest

Hello my friends! I hope you enjoyed a wonderful weekend and a fabulous Monday.

We've been hit by yet another nasty cold.  I can't believe how terrible this winter was for colds.  You'd think that by June, the colds would have been long gone, but that's definitely not the case.

But, just like in the photo above, the fog is beginning to lift and I'm once again able to think clearly.....well, more clearly than a week ago!

It feels as though the summer closure is quickly approaching.  I may delay it by a week or two, until mid July.  I promise to keep you posted.  I have ten, yes ten, more clutches 1/2 complete.  New colour combos (can I say that I'm loving every single one of them?! slightly biased I suppose).  Can't wait to share them with you.  I'm also hoping to add a few more ruffled notecards to the shop soon too.  So much to do!

My husbands grandmother recently moved to a smaller place and decided to give away some of her belongings.  She asked me if I would be interested in one of her tea sets.  I was honestly thrilled that she asked me, there is nothing like a gorgeous tea set!

I love Twinings Earl Grey.  What's your favourite tea?

Summer Time!

Well, here we go!  I'm finally posting my summer clutch line!  I've been talking a lot about it lately, so it's nice to finally be able to get these listings up.

The line includes bright, bold colours and a nautical theme.

Here you go!

Will there be more? Yes!  A few more colours will be introduced throughout the month and I will be changing the colour combos up a bit.  I will also be adding my signature ruffle & sequin combo to a few clutches.

I'm hoping to have most of these listed by the end of the week!

Cheers,

Smiles
